14.45

饒州密巖淨土慧旻禪師示眾曰。道無動靜法本隨緣。立處皆真隨方作主。在天地則覆載。在日月則照臨。在君臣則移風易俗。在釋氏則興運慈悲。且道衲僧分上又作麼生。良久曰。欲言言不及。林下好商量。參。

Chan Master Huimin of Miyang Pure Land in Raozhou instructed the assembly, saying, "The Way has no motion or rest; dharmas originally accord with conditions. Wherever one stands, all is real; in every quarter, one acts as host. In heaven and earth, it covers and supports; in the sun and moon, it shines down; in ruler and minister, it transforms manners and customs; in the Śākya clan, it gives rise to compassion. But tell me, what about on the part of a patch-robed monk?" After a long pause, he said, "Words cannot reach it; it is best discussed under the forest trees. Investigate!"
