婺州智者法銓禪師上堂。要扣玄關須是有節操。極慷慨斬得釘截得鐵。硬剝剝地漢始得。若是隈刀避箭碌碌之徒看即有分。以拂子擊禪床下座。

Chan Master Faquan of Zhizhe in Wuzhou ascended the hall: "If you want to knock at the mystery gate, you must possess integrity, be extremely impassioned, able to sever nails and cut through iron, a fellow who is hard and unyielding—only then will you succeed. If you are mediocre fellows who cringe from swords and dodge arrows, you will only have a share in watching." Striking the meditation couch with his whisk, he descended from the seat.
