36.22

湖州道場運菴禪師諱普岩。題趙州像偈云。無端提起七斤衫。多少禪人著意參。盡向青州做窠窟。不知春色在江南。其下有虛空愚石帆衍紹之。

Chan Master Yunan Puyam of Daochang in Huzhou, wrote a verse inscribed on an image of Zhaozhou: 'For no reason he lifted up the seven-pound hemp robe; / How many Chan practitioners have applied their minds to investigate it! / All of them make their nests toward Qingzhou, / Not knowing that the spring colors are south of the river.' His succession was continued by Xukong Yu and Shifan Yan.
