The stupa of Fugan Temple in the suburbs of Chengdu in Yizhou was originally named Dashi Temple. In the beginning of the Sui, Vinaya Master Shen traced its ancient remains; wishing to search for its śarīra, he dug down to the source of the spring, where there was only a single stone. Seeing this, he erected a nine-story wooden stupa above it, replete with wondrous signs. Prince Xiu of Shu during the Sui again excavated it down to the spring, where wind and rain arrived so fiercely that the bottom could not be reached. Breaking off a piece of stone from the side, he brought it out, and it was jet-jade. At present, it still exists. One hundred li north of Yizhou, in the northern suburb of the walled city of Luo County, there is the stupa of Baoxing Temple. This temple was originally named Dashi, and its circumstances are largely the same as those of Fugan. More than one hundred li southwest of Yizhou, the stupas of various temples in Jinyuan County and elsewhere are roughly similar to those described above.
