Regarding the stone shadow image of Chongyi Temple in the capital: it is eight inches long and five inches in diameter, octagonal, and the color of amethyst. During the Taiqing reign era of Emperor Wu of the Liang, a monk brought it from a foreign country. Encountering disorders, he installed it upon the crown of an image on Mount Lu. When Emperor Yang of the Sui was stationed as a prince in Jiangyang, he saw an external record, went to seek it, and obtained it. When he became the crown prince, he sent it to Riyan Temple at Quchi. When the temple was abandoned, it entered Chongyi Temple. Both clergy and laity of the capital all went to see it, and their perceptions often differed: seeing a Buddha, seeing a deity, or seeing mountains, forests, banners, and canopies—the visions varied from one time to another. In the seventh year of the Zhenguan reign era, an imperial decree welcomed it into the inner palace.
