Regarding the miraculous Rocana image of Huayan Temple on Mount Xian in Xiangzhou: it was originally an ancient image from the Northern Zhou dynasty; when the Dharma was abolished, it was hidden away and thus preserved. Whenever an ominous sign was portended, it was marked by the flowing of nasal mucus. When Emperor Wen of the Sui was about to die, mucus flowed from one nostril, soiling its breast, and the gold leaf peeled off. Although it was repaired afterward, looking at it from afar, it still appeared like mucus. In the fourth month of the late Zhenguan reign era, mucus flowed continuously without stopping, soiling the chest and breast over an area about a foot square.
