The memorial from Luozhou stated: The relics arrived in the prefecture on the sixteenth day of the third month, and were immediately enshrined inside Hanwang Temple. On the twenty-third day, a fragrance suddenly descended, such as had never existed in the world. On the night of the seventh day of the fourth month, as the first watch [7:00–9:00 p.m.] was nearing its end, an east wind suddenly arose; the snuffs of the lamps extinguished their flames, and southeast of the Buddha hall a divine light shone brightly, with a fragrant breeze arriving as well. Officials, clergy, and laity smelled and saw it together, whereupon their earnest mindfulness increased even more. On the eighth day, when about to lower the relics, the branches and leaves of the paulownia trees beside the pagoda lowered their stems.
