問若是優波離律不違經者。則斷肉義不應異涅槃。答涅槃經顯斷肉律文雖不明。而優波離意未常開肉。

[The Emperor] asked: "If it is Upāli's Vinaya and does not contradict the sūtras, then the meaning of prohibiting meat should not differ from the Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra." [Baodu] replied: "The Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra explicitly prohibits meat. Although the Vinaya text is not explicit, Upāli's intention never permitted meat."
