臣笑曰。度人本行經云。道言自元始開光以來。赤明元年。經九千餘億劫。度一恒沙眾生。爾後至上皇元年。度人無量。我隨劫生死。世世不絕。恒與靈寶同出。經久劫終九氣。改運託胎。洪氏積三千餘年。至赤明開通歲在甲子。誕於扶力。蓋天復與靈寶同出度人。無始天尊以我因緣。賜我太上之號。在玄都玉京以此推之。真文在玉京災所不及。而云自然之文。與運同生同滅。同生同滅豈非災也。

Your servant laughs, saying: The Duren benxing jing says: 'The Dao states that since the Radiance First Opened from the Primal Beginning, in the first year of Crimson Brightness, passing through more than nine hundred billion kalpas, I saved sentient beings [as numerous as] the sands of a single Ganges. Thereafter, down to the first year of the Supreme Sovereign, I saved measureless humans. I undergo birth and death following the kalpas, without interruption life after life, constantly appearing alongside Lingbao. Passing through long kalpas to the conclusion of the nine pneumas, changing epochs and lodging in the womb, for over three thousand years in the Hong clan, reaching the opening of Crimson Brightness in the jiazi year, born at Fuli, the Canopy Heaven again appeared together with Lingbao to save people. The Heavenly Worthy of the Beginningless, due to my causal conditions, bestowed upon me the title of Taishang, residing in the Mystery Capital at Jade Capital.' Inferring from this: the true scriptures are at the Jade Capital, beyond the reach of catastrophes; yet it is said that the 'natural scriptures arise and perish along with the cosmic cycle.' If they arise and perish along with it, how could that not be a catastrophe?
