圭璧雖貴而瑕（圭瑞玉也。說文曰。上圓而下方。天子大朝以執之寶中最貴者也。瑕者玉有赤色為瑕。至貴之寶。尚不免於瑕也）。

although scepters and jade disks are precious, they have flaws; (A scepter is an auspicious jade. The *Shuowen* says: 'Round above and square below, held by the Son of Heaven at grand audiences; it is the most precious among treasures.' A flaw means jade having a reddish mark; the most precious of treasures still cannot avoid flaws.)
