20.17

又上生經云。若有禮敬彌勒佛者。除却百億生死之罪。乃至來世龍華樹下亦得見佛。又云。我滅度後四眾八部聞名禮拜。命終往生兜率天中。若有男女犯諸禁戒造眾惡業。聞是菩薩大悲名字。五體投地誠心懺悔。一切惡業速得清淨。若有歸依彌勒菩薩。當知是人得不退轉。彌勒成佛見佛光明即得受記。

Furthermore, the Sūtra on the Upward Rebirth [of Maitreya] says: 'If anyone pays homage and reverence to Maitreya Buddha, they will eliminate the sins of birth and death of ten billion kalpas, and in a future life beneath the dragon-flower tree they will also get to see the Buddha.' It also says: 'After my extinction, if the four assemblies and eight classes of beings hear his name and prostrate to him, when their lives end they will be reborn in Tuṣita Heaven. If there are men or women who have violated the prohibitive precepts and committed various evil karmas, upon hearing the name of this Bodhisattva of Great Compassion, if they cast the five limbs to the ground and repent with sincere mind, all evil karmas will quickly become pure. If anyone takes refuge in Maitreya Bodhisattva, you should know that this person will attain non-retrogression. When Maitreya attains Buddhahood, seeing the Buddha's light, they will immediately receive a prophecy.'
