Furthermore, the Daśādhyāya-vinaya says: Bathing yields five benefits: first, removing dust and dirt; second, curing the skin of the body to make it of a single color; third, dispelling cold and heat; fourth, regulating downward-moving flatus; fifth, reducing illness and pain. Śāriputra: During the height of the summer heat, there was a hired laborer drawing water in an orchard to irrigate the trees. Seeing Śāriputra, he gave rise to a small measure of faith, called to Śāriputra to take off his robes under a tree, and poured water to wash him so that his body became light and cool. After the laborer's life ended, he was immediately born in Trāyastriṃśa Heaven with great majesty and power. Although his merit was small, because he encountered an excellent field [of merit], he received a very great retribution. He immediately descended to Śāriputra's dwelling, scattering flowers in offering. Because of his faith, Śāriputra expounded the essentials of the Dharma for him, and he attained the fruit of stream-entry.
