又問。諸神自在威力殊大。至如蜀川三塔咸名大石。人有掘者莫測其原。至如秦川武功一塔。古老相傳。名曰育王。三十年中一度出現。至貞觀已來已兩度出。雖光瑞殊壯。而舍利如指骨。在石臼中。如何陿陋若此。答曰。諸鬼神中貧富不定。各是往業。如人不殊天中亦爾。隨其所有而用供養此塔（自下云云）。

Again it was asked: "The sovereign majestic power of various deities is exceptionally grand. For instance, the three stupas in Sichuan are all named Dashi, and those who have excavated them could never fathom their origin. As for the stupa in Wugong, Qinchuan, passed down by the elderly, it is named King Aśoka; it appears once in thirty years, and since the Zhenguan era it has already appeared twice. Although its luminous portents are exceptionally magnificent, the relic is like a finger bone resting in a stone mortar. Why is it cramped and base like this?" The answer was: "Among the various ghosts and deities, poverty and wealth are unfixed; each depends on past karma. Just as with human beings, there is no difference; it is the same in the heavens. According to whatever they possess, they use it to make offerings to this stupa (the rest follows similarly below)."
