第五一切所作不倚不著不惜身命。於所用具不多聚積。不行邊方危怖之處。不異服飾。不偏樂於一家往返。是名第五調伏之法。

"Fifth, in all that one does, do not rely on or cling to things, and do not spare body or life; do not amass large quantities of utensils used; do not travel to border regions or perilous and fearful places; do not wear bizarre garments; do not take partial pleasure in frequenting a single household. This is called the fifth method of subduing defilements.
