The Lokasthiti-sūtra also states: What are the causes and conditions for the five kinds of seeds appearing in the world? The Buddha told the bhikṣus: If in the eastern direction there are worlds that have either formed and then been destroyed, or been destroyed and then formed, or formed and then persisted—and so it is with the formation, destruction, and persistence in the southern, western, and northern directions—at that time there is a great wind called Anābhirā, which separately blows the five kinds of seeds from other worlds that are formed and persisting, scattering them into this realm. After scattering, it scatters them again, and so on up to a great scattering: namely root-seeds, stem-seeds, joint-seeds, graft-seeds, and seed-seeds. These are the five seeds. The fruit of the jambu tree is as large as a one-hu jar of the Magadha kingdom. When the fruit is plucked, juice flows forth; its color is white like milk, and its taste is sweet like honey. According to where the jambu fruits are produced, they bring benefit in five portions: that is, the east, south, west, and the two directions of above and below. Those produced in the eastern direction are eaten together by the gandharvas. Those produced in the southern direction are eaten by the people of the seven great settlements. What are the seven? The first is named Bùzhèngjiào (Unrighteous Crying); the second is named Jiàohuàn (Wailing); the third is Bùzhèngtǐ (Unrighteous Body); the fourth is Xián (Worthy); the fifth is Shànxián (Good and Worthy); the sixth is Láo (Firm); the seventh is Shèng (Superior). Those produced in the western portion are eaten together by the garuḍas and the like. Those produced in the upper portion are eaten together by the space-dwelling yakṣas. Those produced in the lower portion are all gathered and eaten by the insects in the sea.
