Question: If that very action being able to act as a path is named a course of action, then all dharmas in relation to the mind would all be named courses of action. Why speak only of ten kinds of courses of action and not speak of immeasurable courses of action? Answer: Because of their preeminence and gravity. Because among all unwholesome and wholesome deeds the ten courses of action are grave, and the others are not grave, immeasurable [courses of action] are not spoken of. Furthermore, the seven actions are unequivocally extremely grave; the three of the mind are both light and grave; drinking alcohol and so forth are not so. For this reason, only ten are spoken of and named courses of action; the others are not spoken of and named courses of action.
