問曰。云何為五。答曰。一貪欲蓋。二瞋恚蓋。三睡眠蓋。四掉悔蓋。五疑蓋。

Question: What are the five? Answer: First, the hindrance of sensual desire; second, the hindrance of malice; third, the hindrance of drowsiness and sleep; fourth, the hindrance of restlessness and regret; fifth, the hindrance of doubt.
