第二明觀女不淨者。但惟諸女。外假容儀。內懷臭穢。迷人著相。不覺虛誑。唯大智者能知可惡也。又禪祕要經云。長老目連得羅漢道。本婦將從。盛服莊嚴欲壞目連。目連爾時為說偈言。

Second, explaining the contemplation of woman's impurity: women merely borrow outward appearances, while inwardly harbouring foul stench and filth. They bewilder people into clinging to marks, unaware of their falsity. Only the greatly wise can know them to be repulsive. Furthermore, the Chan miyao jing says: The Elder Maudgalyāyana attained the arhat path. His former wife brought an entourage, gorgeously adorned, wishing to corrupt Maudgalyāyana. Maudgalyāyana then spoke these verses for her:
