爾時太子說是書已。復諮蜜多阿闍梨言。此書凡有六十四種。未審尊者欲教我何書。是時多羅聞於太子說是書已。內心歡喜悅豫熙怡密懷私慚。折伏貢高我慢之心。向於太子。而說偈言。

When the prince had finished speaking of these scripts, he inquired of the ācārya Viśvāmitra again, saying: "Of these scripts there are sixty-four kinds in total. I wonder which script the Venerable One wishes to teach me?" At that time, hearing the prince speak of these scripts, Viśvāmitra was inwardly delighted, joyful, and serene, while secretly harboring private shame. Subduing his haughty and conceited mind, he addressed the prince and spoke a gāthā:
