汝見第二柱者。是地獄人。迦葉佛時。是白衣人。以刀刮取像上金色。故入地獄。作大肉柱。獄卒捉斧。斫身受苦。猛火燒身。至今不息。

The second pillar you saw is a denizen of hell. In the time of Kāśyapa Buddha, he was a layperson. With a knife he scraped off the gold from an image. Therefore, he entered hell, where he became a great flesh pillar; hell wardens grasp axes and chop at his body, causing him to suffer pain, while raging fires burn his body, without respite even to this day.
