五分律云。不忍辱人有五過失。一兇惡不忍。二後悔恨。三多人不愛。四惡聲流布。五死墮惡道。
The Mahīśāsaka Vinaya states: A person who lacks forbearance has five faults: first, he is violent and intolerant; second, he has later regrets; third, many people dislike him; fourth, evil repute spreads abroad; fifth, upon death he falls into the evil destinies.
