Second: having a strong and robust body, full of marrow, unmatched in walking and running, indulging freely in eating and drinking, ornamenting one's hair and head, regarding oneself as without equal; drawing bows and nocking arrows, grasping weapons, inflicting harm without examining right or wrong, bursting into curses and abuses, considering oneself mighty and strong, conceiving of an 'I' and 'mine' that would never decline or diminish—yet illness suddenly arrives, laying one flat in bed, unable to stir, the body in pain as if beaten with clubs; ears, nose, mouth, and eyes no longer hearing sounds, smelling fragrances, tasting delicacies, or feeling fine softness; needing others to sit up or rise, involuntary discharge of filth occurring so that one lies upon it, with manifold sufferings beyond description: wishing to be exempt, ever safe, and without disease is utterly unattainable.
