12.84

第四中陰有者。若閻浮提人。命終生於弗婆提界。則有相現。見青疊相。一切皆青遍覆虛空。見其屋宅悉如虛空。恐青疊隱以手遮之。親族說言遮空命終。見中陰身。猶如馬形。自見其父。猶如䭸馬。母如騲馬。父母交會愛染和合。若男子生作如是念。我當與此騲馬和合。若女人生。自見己身如騲馬形。作如是念。如是䭸馬。何故不與我合。作是念已即受女身。是名生弗婆提第四中陰有也。

The fourth intermediate state: If a person of Jambudvīpa dies and is born in the realm of Pūrvavideha, signs appear. They see the sign of blue fine wool; everything is blue, completely covering the void. They see their houses all like empty space. Fearing that the blue wool will disappear, they shield it with their hands; relatives say they died shielding empty space. They see the intermediate state body like the form of a horse. They see their father like a stallion and their mother like a mare; the parents are copulating and uniting in affectionate defilement. If born as a male, he thinks: 'I should unite with this mare.' If born as a female, she sees her own body in the form of a mare and thinks: 'Why does such a stallion not unite with me?' Having thought this, she immediately receives a female body. This is called the fourth intermediate state of being born in Pūrvavideha.
