12.85

第五中陰有者。若欝單越人臨命終時。見上行相。若大業心。自在生天。以手攬空。如夢中所見。好華上妙之香。第一妙色香氣在手。見華生貪。今見此樹。我當升之。作是念已即上大樹。乃是升於須彌。見天世界花果莊嚴。我當遊行。是名欝單越人下品受生第五中陰有也。

The fifth intermediate state: When a person of Uttarakuru approaches the end of life, they see the sign of ascending. If their mind of great karma is [present], they are born at ease in the heavens. They grasp at empty space with their hands, seeing as in a dream fine flowers of supreme fragrance, having the foremost wonderful color and fragrance in hand. Seeing the flowers, they generate craving: 'Now that I see this tree, I should climb it.' Having thought this, they immediately climb the great tree, which is ascending Mount Sumeru; seeing the heavenly world adorned with flowers and fruits, [they think:] 'I should wander about.' This is called the fifth intermediate state of a person of Uttarakuru undergoing rebirth of the lower grade.
