The Huainanzi says: 'The breath of heaven becomes the hun; the breath of earth becomes the po.' The po asked the hun, saying, 'What does the Dao take as its body?' The hun said, 'Is it by having no form?' The po said, 'It has form. If it had none, how could you ask about it?' The hun said, 'I merely had an encounter with it. When looked at, it has no form; when listened to, it has no sound. This is called the dark and obscure. The dark and obscure is that by which the Dao is illustrated, but it is not the Dao itself.'
