The Buddha told Mañjuśrī: "Recite each one fully one hundred and eight times. You should expound the phrases of this dhāraṇī in every place. As with the method for Buddha flowers, other flowers are also like this." Furthermore, the Huayan jing says: "In the past, there was an incense among humans called Great Elephant Treasury (Gajagarbha), which arose because of dragons fighting. If one pellet is burned, it produces great light, with a cloud net covering above, tasting like ambrosia; for seven days and seven nights it rains fragrant water. If it touches one's body, the body becomes golden; if it touches clothes, palaces, and pavilions, they also all become golden. If any sentient beings get to smell this incense, for seven days and seven nights they will be joyful and blissful, eliminating all diseases, being free from untimely disasters, far removed from thoughts of terror and harm, dedicated to great kindness, and universally mindful of sentient beings. Having known them, I preached the Dharma for them, causing immeasurable sentient beings to attain non-retrogression." Furthermore, ox-head candana incense arises from the Mount Free of Defilement (Vimalaparvata); if one smears it on the body, fire cannot burn it.
