5.18

西方者即是妻子。若有人能供給妻子衣服飲食臥具湯藥瓔珞服飾嚴身之具。是人則能供養西方妻子。是妻子復以十四事報之。一所作盡心營之二常作終不懈惰。三所作必令終竟。四疾作不令失時。五常為瞻視賓客。六淨其房舍臥具。七愛敬當則柔軟。八儻使軟言教詔。九善能守護財物。十晨起夜寐。十一能護淨舍。十二能忍教誨。十三能覆惡事。十四能瞻病苦。

"The west refers to wife and children. If someone can provide their wife and children with clothing, food and drink, bedding, medicine, necklaces, personal adornments, and articles for decorating the body, this person can make offerings to the wife and children of the west. The wife and children reciprocate with fourteen things: first, handling what needs to be done with all their heart; second, always working and never slacking; third, ensuring that whatever is done is brought to completion; fourth, acting swiftly without missing the proper time; fifth, always attending to guests; sixth, keeping their rooms and bedding clean; seventh, being gentle when showing love and respect; eighth, instructing with soft speech when giving commands; ninth, being good at guarding property; tenth, rising early and sleeping late; eleventh, keeping the house clean; twelfth, bearing instruction and admonition; thirteenth, covering up bad things; fourteenth, attending to illness and suffering.
