7.44

無明蔽慧眼　數數生死中
往來多所作　更互為父子
貪著世間樂　不知有勝事
怨數為知識　知識數為怨
是故我方便　莫生憎愛心
若起憎愛心　不能通達法

Ignorance veils the eye of wisdom; / in repeated rounds of birth and death,
coming and going, much has been done, / alternately being father and son.
Greedily attached to worldly pleasures, / not knowing that there are superior things,
enemies repeatedly become friends, / and friends repeatedly become enemies.
Therefore, as my skillful means, / let not thoughts of hatred or love arise;
if thoughts of hatred and love arise, / one cannot penetrate the Dharma.
