9.47

復有一鬼言。我常有旋風迴轉我身。不得自在隨意東西。心常惱悶。何因故爾。目連答言。汝前世時常作卜師。或時實語。或時妄語。迷惑人心不得隨意。故受此苦。

Yet another ghost said, 'I constantly have a whirlwind spinning my body around; I have no freedom to go east or west as I wish, and my mind is constantly anguished and distressed. For what cause is this so?' Maudgalyāyana answered, saying, 'In your past life you were always a diviner. Sometimes you spoke the truth, and sometimes you spoke falsehoods, confusing people's minds so they could not follow their wishes. Therefore you suffer this pain.'
