9.48

復有一鬼言。我身常如塊肉。無有脚手眼耳鼻等。恒為蟲鳥所食。罪苦難堪。何因緣故爾。目連答言。汝前世時。常與他藥墮他兒。故受此苦。

Yet another ghost said, 'My body is constantly like a lump of flesh, without feet, hands, eyes, ears, nose, and the like, and is continually eaten by worms and birds. The suffering of my retribution is unbearable. By what cause and conditions is this so?' Maudgalyāyana answered, saying, 'In your past life, you constantly gave medicine to others to abort their children. Therefore you suffer this pain.'
