輕耎（乳兖反考聲云耎弱也韻英云柔也說文從而從大又古作[葷-車+(〦/儿/瓦)]說文柔韋也從北從古𥥟或作[月*(而/火)]渜經文作軟非也竝無此字也）。

Pliant (耎 [in 輕耎, light and pliant]: pronounced *ru* + *yan* in fanqie. The *Kaosheng* states: “*Ruǎn* means weak.” The *Yunying* states: “Supple.” The *Shuowen jiezi* states: “It is composed of *ér* and *dà*.” Anciently it was also written as [葷-車+(〦/儿/瓦)]. The *Shuowen jiezi* states: “Soft dressed leather; it is composed of *běi* with ancient *suì*.” It is also written as [月*(而/火)] or 渜. Its being written as 軟 in the sūtra text is incorrect; both are spurious characters).
