戲謔（上羲義反爾疋戲亦謔也考聲弄也說文從戈䖒聲䖒音義下香虐反郭注尒雅云謂相啁戲也說文謔即戲也從言虐聲說文虐字上從虍下從仰瓜作山從亡者通俗字也）。

戲謔 (the upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 羲義 [xi + yi]. The Erya states: '戲 also means 謔.' The Kaosheng states: 'To banter or play.' The Shuowen states: 'Formed from radical 戈 with 䖒 as the phonetic.' 䖒 is pronounced 義 [yi]. The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 香虐 [xiang + nüe]. Guo's commentary on the Erya states: 'It refers to mocking and bantering with one another.' The Shuowen states: '謔 means to joke; formed from radical 言 with 虐 as the phonetic.' In the Shuowen, the character 虐 is formed from 虍 above and an inverted 爪 below written like 山; written with 亡 is the popular form).
