暎蔽（上英敬反韻英云傍照也字書云相掩暎也正體從英經文從央於薑反非也作映音烏朗反玉篇云暎[暯-旲+奔]不明也非經義下卑袂反彌弊反杜預注左傳云蔽障也廣雅蔽隱也考聲云蔽掩也從草敝毘曳反聲也）。

暎蔽 (the upper character is [pronounced with the fanqie] 英 + 敬. The Yunying says: 'To shine upon from the side.' The character dictionary says: 'To mutually screen and reflect.' The standard form takes Ӣ [ying]. The scripture text having it with 央 [yang] as 於 + 薑 fanqie is incorrect. When written as 映, it is pronounced 烏 + 朗 fanqie. The Yupian says: '暎[暯-旲+奔] means not bright.' That is not the meaning intended in the scripture. The lower character is 卑 + 袂 fanqie, or 彌 + 弊 fanqie. Du Yu's commentary on the Zuozhuan says: '蔽 means to screen or obstruct.' The Guangya says: '蔽 means to conceal.' The Kaosheng says: '蔽 means to cover.' It takes 艹 as semantic and 敝 (毘 + 曳 fanqie) as phonetic).
