撾打（嘲爪反馬策也擊也考聲云草木節也從木過聲也聲類捶也佳壘反或作𥬲從竹從朵丁果反下得冷反打捶也擊也從手丁聲也吳音頂今不取）。

撾打 (strike and beat): 撾 is *zhuā* (嘲爪反 [ʈ͡ʂʰaǔ]), a horse whip; or to strike. The *Kaosheng* says: "A joint/knot of grass or wood; it takes the tree radical and has 過 as its phonetic." The *Shenglei* says: "To beat (捶), *zhuī* (佳壘反 [t͡ɕwǐ]); or written as 𥬲, taking the bamboo radical with 朵 (*duǒ*, 丁果反 [tuɑ̌])." The lower [character] is *dǎ* (得冷反 [təŋ̌]), to beat, strike, or hit; it takes the hand radical with 丁 as its phonetic. The Wu pronunciation is *dǐng* (頂), which is not adopted here.
