Udumbara (烏曇跋羅: Sanskrit; the name of a flower. Its leaves resemble pear leaves, and its fruit is as large as a fist and sweet in taste. It bears fruit without flowering; it also does have flowers, but they are rarely encountered, which is why in the sūtras it is used as a metaphor for what is rare).
