爽失（霜愴反毛詩傳曰爽差也郭注尒雅用心差錯不專一也賈注國語云爽貳也郭注方言過也說文從㸚從大㸚音力尒反經從四人誤也下失字從手從乙乙亦聲也廣雅失誤也玉篇失喪也）。

爽失 Deviation and loss: (The first character has the fanqie 霜愴 [shuǎng]. The Mao Commentary to the Classic of Poetry says: "爽 means to err." Guo's commentary on the Erya says: "The application of the mind is erroneous and not single-minded." Jia's commentary on the Guoyu says: "爽 means to deviate." Guo's commentary on the Fangyan says: "An error." The Shuowen says it takes 㸚 and 大; 㸚 has the fanqie 力尒 [lǐ]. In the sūtra text, writing it with four 人 is mistaken. The second character 失 takes 手 and 乙, where 乙 is also phonetic. The Guangya says: "失 means an error." The Yupian says: "失 means to lose").
