謫罰（上陟革反毛詩傳相責也杜注左傳謫譴也方言怒也說文罰也從言商省聲也下煩韈反說文罪罰也罪之小者未以刃殺但持刀罵詈則應罰也從刀從詈會意字也）。

Reprimand and punish (謫罰: the first character has the fanqie zh- + [g]e [=zhé]; the Mao Commentary to the Odes says: 'To reprimand one another'; Du's commentary to the Zuo zhuan says: 'Zhé (謫) means to blame'; the Fangyan says: 'Wrath'; the Shuowen says: 'To punish'; it is formed with 'speech' [言] and an abbreviated shāng [商] as phonetic. The second character has the fanqie f- + [w]a [=fá]; the Shuowen says: 'Guilt and punishment; a minor crime where one does not kill with a blade, but merely holding a knife and reviling merits punishment'; it is formed with 'knife' [刀] and 'revile' [詈], being a compound ideograph).
