兇悖（上音凶考聲云兇惡也恐也說文擾也從人在凶下象形字也下盆沒反考聲云悖壯大也或從人作侼侼佷也強也亦惡也說文從言作誖誖猶乱也古文作𱙼論語曰色孛如也從子從市市音肥未反）。

兇悖 [Cruel and rebellious]: The first character is pronounced xiōng. The Kaosheng says: '兇 means evil; to fear.' The Shuowen says: 'Disturbed; formed from 人 (person) under 凶 (inauspicious); a pictographic character.' The second character is read with the fanqie 盆 [p-] + 沒 [-ò] (bò). The Kaosheng says: '悖 means grandiose and aggressive; or written with the person radical as 侼. 侼 means stubborn and aggressive; also evil.' The Shuowen gives it with the speech radical as 誖: '誖 is like chaotic.' The ancient script has 𱙼. The Analects says: 'His countenance was altered (孛如).' Formed from 子 (child) and 市 (apron); 市 is pronounced with the fanqie 肥 [f-] + 未 [-èi] (fèi).
