稍微（上霜教反韻詮云漸漸也少也廣雅云稍稍小也侵削令小也說文云出物其漸也從禾肖聲也下尾非反左氏傳微無也字書微細也說文云隱行也從彳[(肆-聿+殳)-ㄙ+几]聲也彳音丑尺反[(肆-聿+殳)-ㄙ+几]音同上經從山從歹作微俗字訛也）。

稍微 (The upper character is pronounced 霜 + 教 fanqie. The Yunquan says: 'Gradually; slightly.' The Guangya says: '稍稍 means small; to whittle away to make small.' The Shuowen says: 'Things emerging gradually; it derives from 禾 with 肖 as phonetic.' The lower character is pronounced 尾 + 非 fanqie. The Zuozhuan says: '微 means absent.' The character dictionaries say: 'Subtle, minute.' The Shuowen says: 'Walking concealed; it derives from 彳 with [(肆-聿+殳)-ㄙ+几] as phonetic.' 彳 is pronounced 丑 + 尺 fanqie; [(肆-聿+殳)-ㄙ+几] has the same pronunciation as above. In the sūtra it is written with 山 and 歹 as 微, which is a vulgar and corrupt character).
