蝸蠃（上寡華反郭璞注爾雅云蝸牛也說文云蠃也桂苑珠叢云水生殼蟲也下魯和反爾雅㤔蠃螔蝓蝓此類非一嬴即蝸牛之大者出海中說文從虫𣎆聲經作螺俗字非正也）。

蝸蠃 (The upper character is pronounced 寡 + 華 fanqie. Guo Pu's commentary on the Erya says: 'The snail (蝸牛).' The Shuowen says: 'It means 蠃.' The Guiyuan zhucong says: 'A shelled creature born in water.' The lower character is pronounced 魯 + 和 fanqie. The Erya mentions 㤔蠃 and 螔蝓; of this kind there is more than one. 嬴 is the large kind of snail, emerging from the sea. The Shuowen says: 'It derives from 虫 with 𣎆 as phonetic.' In the sūtra it is written as 螺, which is a popular form and not standard).
