渤澥（上盆沒反下諧矮反臣瓚注漢書云渤澥海之別名也說文與漢書義並同從水孛解皆聲經從力作渤亦通字音同上矮音嬰買反）。

The Bohai Gulf (the first character is *pen* + *mo* [bó]; the second is *xie* + *ai* [xiè]. Chen Zan's commentary on the Hanshu says: "*Boxie* is another name for the sea." The Shuowen agrees in meaning with the Hanshu; both are categorized under 'water' [水] with *bei* [孛] and *jie* [解] phonetic. When the sūtra uses 'strength' as 勃, that is also an acceptable character and takes the same pronunciation. *Ai* [矮] is pronounced *ying* + *mai* [ǎi]).
