拈掐（上念兼反釋名云拈兩指鉗之也廣雅拈持也下口洽反考聲掐爪掐也埤蒼義同古今正字並從手占臽皆聲臽音陷）。

Nianqia 拈掐 (The first character has the fanqie nian + jian [niān]. The Shiming says: 'Nian means pinching with two fingers.' The Guangya says: 'Nian means to hold.' The second character has the fanqie kou + qia [qiā]. The Kaosheng says: 'Qia means to nip with the fingernails.' The Picang gives the same meaning. In the Gujin zhengzi, both take the hand radical [手], with zhān [占] and xiàn [臽] respectively as phonetics; xiàn [臽] is pronounced xiàn [陷]).
