紺青（上古暗反說文帛染青而揚赤色也釋名云紺合也青而含赤色切韻青赤色上生絳如紫紺摩尼與此色異）。

Deep-blue (紺青): For the upper [character], the fanqie is 古暗 [gàn]. The Shuowen says: 'Silk dyed blue that shows a reddish cast.' The Shiming states: '紺 [gàn] means joined (合); it is blue containing a reddish tone.' The Qieyun states: 'A bluish-red color, with deep crimson showing on top, like purple.' The gàn gem (maṇi) is different from this color.
