權現 (*quánxiàn*, expedient manifestation; [the first character has] the fanqie 逵員 [*kuí* + *yuán*]. Jia's commentary on the *Guoyu* says: "Adapting flexibly to accord with the times is called *quán*." The *Guangya* says: "*Quán* means holding." The *Gu-jin zhengzi* says: "It is composed of 手 with 雚 as phonetic." 雚 is pronounced *guàn*).
