痰癊（上音談下陰禁反案痰癊字無定體𦙄鬲中氣病也津液因氣疑結不散如筋膠引挽不斷名為痰癊四病根本之中此一能生百病皆上焦之疾也）。

Phlegm and fluid retention (痰癊: for the upper character, the sound is 談 [*tán*]; for the lower character, *yīn* - *jìn* fanqie [*yìn*]. Note that the characters 痰癊 have no fixed standard form; it is a disorder of the qi in the chest and diaphragm. Bodily fluids, because of the qi, congeal and do not disperse, like sinews and glue stretching out without breaking; this is called phlegm-retention. Among the four fundamental illnesses, this one alone can give rise to a hundred ailments, all of which are disorders of the upper burner).
