Open and illuminate (開闡: *chāng* - *yǎn* fanqie [*chǎn*]. Han Kangbo's commentary on the *Xici* says: "*Chǎn* means to clarify." The *Guangya* says: "*Chǎn* means to open." It takes the radical 門 'gate' with 單 *dān* phonetic).
