What is prayed for (the latter [character 祈] is pronounced qi; the commentary on the *Mao Poetry* says: "*Qi* means to seek"; the *Erya* says: "*Qi* means to announce"; the *Shuowen* says: "*Qi* means to sacrifice to seek blessings; it is formed with 'altar' (示) and jin as phonetic").
