酸答（下當納反韻英荅對至說文從草合聲古文從曰從合作𣆗今不行因草書變上草作答落莫薄若等皆是也）。

酸答 (Sour response: The lower character has the fanqie 當納 [dá]. The Yunying says: '荅 means responding to.' The Shuowen jiezi states that it is derived from 艸 [grass] with the sound 合. The ancient script had it derived from 曰 with 合 to make 𣆗, which is not in current use. Because cursive script changed the top grass radical into 𥫗 [bamboo], it was written as 答; cases such as 落, 莫, 薄, and 若 are all of this kind).
