麁獷（上倉蘇反鄭注禮記云麤疎也廣雅惡也說文從三鹿下𮓦猛反集訓云如犬獷惡不可近也故從犬正經作礦石璞非也）。

麁獷 (Coarse and fierce: The upper character has the fanqie 倉蘇 [cū]. Zheng [Xuan's] commentary on the Liji says: '麤 means coarse and unrefined.' The Guangya says: 'Bad.' The Shuowen jiezi derives it from three 鹿 [deer]. The lower character has the fanqie 𮓦猛 [guǎng]. The Jixun says: 'Fierce and vicious like a dog, approaching which is impossible; hence it is derived from 犬 [dog].' In standard editions of scriptures it is written 礦, which is unrefined stone and is incorrect).
