德懋（莫侯反鄭注尒雅云懋謂自勉強也尚書云懋昭大德是也文字典說從心楙聲楙音其候反）。

[Exertion in virtue] (Fanqie of 莫 [m-] and 侯 [-əu]: Zheng's commentary on the *Erya* says, "'Mào' (懋) means to exert oneself." The *Classic of Documents* says, "Exert yourself to illustrate great virtue," which is an example of this. The *Wenzi dianshuo* says, "It is formed from 'heart' (心) and the 'mào' (楙) phonetic." 'Mào' (楙) has the fanqie of 其 [g-] and 候 [-əu]).
